House Republicans Slash Nutrition Programs

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today amid reports Republicans in the House of Representatives are readying legislation that would slash $40 billion from nutrition programs for hungry children and families. DeLauro is a longtime champion for ensuring the government does not ignore the most vulnerable in society.

"Republicans in the House of Representatives have abandoned those who need help getting through tough times. They have doubled down on their bad decision and have given in to the extreme right wing, at the expense of millions of children who could be forced to go to school with empty stomachs. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, to join me in making sure this harmful idea never becomes reality."
