Joyce Votes for Fairness

Press Release

Date: July 18, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. Dave Joyce (OH-14) voted in favor of H.R. 2668, The Fairness for American Families Act, which will delay the health care law's individual mandate for one year and H.R. 2667, The Authority for Mandate Delay Act, which delays the employer mandate for one year by law. Joyce released the following statement:

"This is about fairness. It's only fair that hardworking Ohio taxpayers are given the same treatment as someone already getting a pass on a burdensome government rule. Anything that puts IRS bureaucrats in charge of your families' healthcare is a bad idea and we need real, common sense reform that empowers individuals and doctors, increases access to quality care, and drives down costs."

Recently, the Obama Administration announced it would delay the health care law's employer mandate, which would require companies with 50 or more employees to provide health coverage to their employees or face steep fines. The House voted today to make that delay law and apply the delay to families and individuals in addition to businesses.
