McCollum Statement on St. Croix Crossing Groundbreaking

Today, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D-MN) issued the following statement in anticipation of the May 28th groundbreaking in Stillwater for the new St. Croix River Crossing. Next week, she will be out of town on a long-planned vacation and will not be able to attend the event.

"The groundbreaking for the new St. Croix River Bridge starts a transformative process for Oak Park Heights, Stillwater, and communities along Highway 36. As construction moves forward, I want to make sure that worker safety on the project is a top priority as well as full compliance will all required environmental protections. While it is no secret that I opposed the size and cost of the new bridge, now that it is being built, my goal is to ensure taxpayers get the best, most cost-effective bridge possible."
