The US House of Representatives won't take up the Farm Bill before it expires at the end of this month.
A South Georgia Congressman says that's a mistake.
2nd District Representative Sanford Bishop says South Georgia farmers are left in a state of uncertainty.
The new bill won't include as much money for most farm programs and food stamps, but Bishop says farmers need details so they can plan and move forward.
"Without some sense of certainty, it throws everything into a big question mark and of course that means farmers are limited in their ability to get credit because the lenders are limited in their ability to predict the capacity of the farmers to repay their loans," said Rep. Bishop.
The Senate passed the Farm Bill, but the House doesn't plan to take any action until after the election.
