As a Successful Businessman I Understand First Hand the Concept of Return on Investment
For too many on Beacon Hill the "we've always done it this way" approach to managing is the norm. In the real world doing more with less is paramount to a successful enterprise. Like Bob Coughlin, I am a businessman first and I will bring fresh ideas to Beacon Hill consistent with my experience in the private sector.
No One Should Be Forced to Move Out of a Community Because Property Taxes Are Too High
Homeowners' property taxes as a share of personal income have grown from 3.04 percent to 3.45 percent in the last five years. As a result, people in the lower and middle income classes are spending less time enjoying their families and far too much time simply trying to make ends meet. As your state legislator I will act to expand the existing property tax "circuit breaker,"to bring a refundable personal income tax credit to every taxpayer in the 11th Norfolk District who has income below $46,000 (for individuals) or $70,000 (for married couples) and has a home valued at less than $648,000.
Commitment Made, Commitment Kept
In November of 2002 more than 62% of the people in the 11th Norfolk District voted to roll back the personal income tax rate to 5%. I was one of them. Unfortunately despite the vote of the people, the tax rate was never rolled back to 5%. Today it sits at 5.3%. As your state legislator I will actively engage in the fight to give back to the people the money that is rightfully theirs and ensure that the tax rate is lowered to 5%.
