* We have now had troops in combat situations for more than 10 years. It is imperative that our troops and their families have the support they need, not only while on active duty, but when they return home.
* I oppose slashing veterans benefits. Congresswoman Jenkins has twice voted for the Ryan Plan, which would likely lead to deep cuts in veterans benefits.
* All veterans must be assured of quality health care and timely treatment. Thanks to medical advances, many of our wounded troops survive, but they face tremendous mental and physical challenges. We must make sure their needs are met, whether by providing prostheses for amputees or medication and counseling for Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) or traumatic brain injury (TBI).
* I support promoting the skills of returning troops to highlight the value veterans bring to the job market.
