Issue Position: Prioritizing and Improving State Government Through Responsible State Spending

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

"We must, as a state, stop the constant gimmicks, accounting maneuvers and other short term fixes for our state budget. Yes, we have all been affected by the "Great Recession', including our state however, we need to shift our budget priorities to one that accurately reflects the new realities."

a. Reject state spending that relies on accounting gimmicks and "raiding" monies dedicated for cities and school districts.

b. Preserve and add to our state reserve fund for emergencies only.

c. Establish high priorities in the state budget and adhere to them; K-12 Education, Public Safety, and Services for our most vulnerable population-our developmentally disabled and seniors.

d. Our state government needs to continue to improve and deliver services more efficiently and effectively. This will require a vigilant eye from your legislators and as your next State Representative I will be committed to this task and saving taxpayer money!
