Democrat Ron Kim on the Issues:
Let's send him to the New York State Assembly
New York State Dream Act: Democrat Ron Kim came to this country at the age of seven. He knows that he was able to achieve success in life because of the extraordinary education he received here. That's why Ron is a proud supporter of the New York State Dream Act that will help countless immigrant students receive a college education and fulfill their own dreams. The son of immigrant parents, Ron knows how important access to higher education is to achieving the American Dream and succeeding in life.
Minimum Wage: Ron knows it is getting harder and harder to make ends meet. That's why he supports raising the minimum wage for New Yorkers who are struggling to get by with low incomes and increasing expenses. In the New York State Assembly, Ron will be a fierce fighter for all middle-class families in our community.
Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC): Ron feels very strongly that no one should ever have to choose between filling their prescription drugs and buying their groceries. That's why he supports expanding the Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage program. EPIC is a free New York State program that helps thousands of senior citizens pay for their prescription drugs at reduced costs.
Public School Funding: Ron knows that education equals opportunity. That is why in the New York State Assembly Ron will fight to ensure that Flushing public schools receive the funding they deserve from Albany. In addition, Ron will advocate for after-school and language programs so our kids are given the opportunity to exceed beyond the classroom.
Tax Cuts for Small Businesses: As the son of former small business owners, Ron knows that small businesses are the engine of our local economy. In the State Assembly, he will encourage business growth in our community by lowering taxes for our small businesses and by eliminating the bureaucratic red-tape that hinders growth.
Changing Albany: Ron knows that Albany is changing for the better, but too much dysfunction still exists. That is why in the New York State Assembly, he will fight for meaningful campaign finance reform and to enact tougher penalties for public corruption.
