Statement from Representative Hochul on Chinese-Made Olympic Uniforms

Statement

Date: July 12, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Representative Kathy Hochul (NY-26) released the following statement in response to reports that the U.S. Olympic team's opening ceremony uniforms were made in China:

"It is a national disgrace that American athletes who have worked hard to represent their country in the Olympics will be opening the games in uniforms made in China. We should take national pride not only in our Olympians, but also in the American workforce that produces quality goods and represents the very best of our country."

"Just this morning, I spoke on the House floor about how our Olympic athletes from Western New York will carry the pride of the nation with them to London. I am disappointed that same pride will not be reflected by their uniforms."
