Issue Position

Needs to operate more leanly and efficiently. The natural tendency of government is to grow. If allowed, it will do so exponentially. Currently, Federal dollars compose over 44% of the state budget. If Obamacare is allowed to stand that is projected to grow to well over 50% in the next 5 years. With Federal money comes Federal mandates they do not fund. The money they send is borrowed from future generations and carry other costs we the citizens of Florida are then responsible for. This is truly unsustainable.

Government at all levels must shrink to fit our ability to pay for it with the resources we ourselves have at this moment. The State of Florida is prohibited from spending in deficit. Every dollar we take in the form of a grant or program grant from the Federal government leads us to violate that. We have to be self sustaining, without raising taxes. That means, we have to have smaller, limited, Constitutional government.

To get there, we need to empower the citizens of Florida with transparency of every dollar and process of government at all levels in the state of Florida. Only the active involvement of citizens can bring about the restraint and accountability necessary to preserving the traditions of smaller, limited government envisioned in the founding documents.
