I was proud to successfully lead the fight to stop Pennsylvania from converting Interstate 80 into a toll road. Tolling had nothing to do with innovation or long-term solutions to the Commonwealth's transportation challenges. Rather, it was simply a plan to tax citizens in one part of the state to benefit those in another. By stopping the tolling scheme, jobs were saved and another obstacle to growth for our region was averted.
Small Businesses are the backbone of our economy, but President Obama's own Small Business Administration released figures showing that small businesses still face an inexcusable regulatory burden, especially when compared to large businesses. Manufacturing is especially hard hit. I will continue to fight to make sure those small businesses have an environment for them to grow and create good paying, family sustaining jobs.
