"The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed, until they try to take it." --Thomas Jefferson
I received an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association. During my time in the House of Delegates, I introduced the first Tenth Amendment bill on firearms, referred to as the "West Virginia Firearms Freedom Act". Utilizing the authority of the Constitution and the ability for the sovereign states to govern themselves, the bill simply stated that if a firearm was manufactured in the state of West Virginia, and kept within our state's borders, the firearm (and its manufacturer) would not be subject to federal regulation. Though the bill did not pass, I still view it as an important method to ensure that the US Supreme Court, at no time in the future, can highjack the power to infringe or strip away the rights guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment that all citizens have the right to "keep and bear arms".
