Jim McGovern believes that there is no higher priority for our nation than providing for our brave men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States.
Jim is a strong supporter of programs that provide health care, education, and economic opportunity for our veterans.
Jim was the primary author of legislation ("HOPE at HOME") that provides tax incentives to employers who continue to pay the salaries of their employees who have been called up to Active Duty in the Guard and Reserves.
He supported a $2400 tax credit incentive for businesses who hire unemployed veterans and the Post 9/11 GI Bill, which to date has provided nearly 300,000 veterans and their family members with tuition, housing and stipends as they pursue higher education.
Jim is also keenly aware of the unique health care challenges that our veterans face. He will continue to support full funding for the TRI-CARE health care program. He also believes that we must pay close attention to some of the most prevalent injuries among veterans, particularly Traumatic Brain Injury and mental health issues.
Jim has supported the work of Liberating Technologies in Holliston, which is on the cutting edge of designing and manufacturing advanced prosthetics for our wounded veterans.
