Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today issued the following statement regarding the two-month extension of the payroll tax holiday and other provisions:
"I am pleased to know that Nevadans who are entitled to benefits will not have any gap in receiving them and I was proud to have voted for legislation on December 13, which gave people certainity and predicability across all of these issues for the coming year and in some cases two. However, it is disappointing to know that we have done nothing to address the policy issues, which are present in these programs and the payment therefore.
"I fear that we will be putting all these fine people through this whole process again in 60 days with another wrinkle, which I fully expect to see, of a revenue package that ingnites with a new furvor class warfare and anti-business rhetoric.
"I'm afraid that we've setup a more vitriolic fight between the political differences over the future of the country and I'm saddened by the fact that the forces of politics have carried the day once again to the detriment of dealing responsibly with the policy for the benefit of Nevadans."
