As a lifelong member of District 61, I have seen opportunity, challenges, growth, and stagnation. As a member
of the Baton Rouge City Council, I have been able to provide influence through public policy and direct assistance
to my constituents by steering resources and services to my District. However, there are still enormous challenges
that keep our community stagnate and I have the experience, dedication, and platform for long term growth in
District 61. For these reasons, I am running for State Representative District 61.
Improved Education Outcomes for Every Child: Every child should have the opportunity to choose from a
variety of educational opportunities, that all lead too success.
I support Pre-K, Headstart, and early childcare programs.
Lifelong Learning Leads to Sustainable Communities: Every adult within the District should have community
options to become trained or retrained in 21st Century skills. I am committed to supporting both the District's
Technical College and will fight to preserve Southern University, as the State's premier HBCU and LSU's
Flagship Agenda. Our state should be investing in higher education, not cutting higher education.
I support the Louisiana TOPS program and will work to ensure more youth that come from
economically challenging backgrounds are aware and qualified to obtain TOPS.
Economic Development: I will serve as an economic ambassador for District 61, working with the City and State
to lure, help, and expand local, small, and emerging businesses.
I support business tax incentives that have a direct return on our investment to the District.
Capital Outlay dollars must be used to spur economic development in an equitable manner that
produces jobs for local residents and local contractors.
Support Nonprofit and Faith Based Organizations: Nonprofit's fill the gaps in human services, where
government may lack the resources. .
I will advocate on behalf of the Nonprofit and Faith Based Organizations to ensure that these
organizations are provided the opportunity to access resources needed to keep communities
thriving and help those most in need.
Fiscal Accountability: I believe that all levels of Government should be accountable for every tax payer dollar
spent.
I will support the Office of Inspector General, the Louisiana State Auditor's Office, and the
Louisiana Board of Ethics in their efforts to ensure the State is operating effectively, efficiently, and
ethically responsible.
Improved Access and Quality Healthcare Services: Many people in District 61 lack access to public health
care services.
I will work to attract medical physicians to the area and will support programs that address
preventive measures to reduce negative health outcomes.
