Revisiting Face-to-Face Evaluations for Medicaid Renewals
Johnny DuPree will revisit the requirement for Medicaid recipients to have annual face-to-face visits for renewal of benefits. This is a hardship in many ways for many people, especially our most vulnerable Mississippians who often lack a means of transportation.
Most counties have only 1 location. In rural and more economically depressed counties, it is a lot harder for citizens to take time away from work for what is essentially a well-visit to the doctor.
Johnny DuPree believes in Mississippians. The DuPree administration will crackdown on those who are taking advantage of the system without building brick walls to services for Mississippians who honestly qualify for Medicaid.
Revise MississippiCAN
MississippiCAN stands for Mississippi Coordinated Access Network, which is designed to manage care programs that use private companies to administer portions of the Medicaid benefits.
Unfortunately, too many healthcare providers are complaining that MississippiCAN is:
* Refusing to pay for services
* Not providing a universal list of covered prescription drugs and
* Automatically enrolling recipients without their awareness.
A DuPree administration will revise MississippiCAN by:
* Streamlining the reimbursement process so more doctors and hospitals will join the network.
* Require providers to cover the same list of prescriptions drugs as covered by the Mississippi Medcaid program.
* Change MississippiCAN from an opt-out system to an opt-in system to ensure that Medicaid recipients are actively electing the network system for their Medicaid benefits.
Preparing for the Future
Under a DuPree administration, we will create a commission designed to streamline Medicaid service and cut overhead costs in an effort to save money and increase efficiency. Johnny DuPree will both ensure quality services and be good stewards of taxpayers' dollars.
