Issue Position

Global climate change is one of the most serious, complex challenges of the 21st century. An aggressive transition to a clean renewable energy economy is needed for the U.S. to create millions of jobs and break our dependence on foreign oil.

I was proud to have voted in support of the American Clean Energy and Security Act (H.R. 2454). The legislation outlines a bold new energy plan that will transform America's economy through technological innovation, secure our energy supply by reducing our dangerous dependence on foreign sources of energy and curb greenhouse gas emission to protect the planet for future generations.

As a member of the House Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus, I was proud to vote for the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which included $90 billion in clean energy investments nationwide and $317 million for Minnesota. I will continue to support smart policies and investments that are urgently needed to transition America into a clean energy economy for the 21st Century.
