Tonight is my last debate for the primary election, and I am inviting you to watch.
The debate is going to be televised live on WLBT in Jackson, WLOX in Biloxi, WDAM in Hattiesburg, WTOK in Meridian, WABG in Greenwood, WTVA in Tupelo and WMC in Memphis.
I'm especially looking forward to the debate, because it will give me the opportunity to unveil Phase 3 of the Mississippi Education Restructuring Program, which includes:
1. Early Childhood Development
2. Teacher Training
3. Literacy Education
Since we first launched MERP two weeks ago, we have been blessed with an outpouring of support from teachers, parents, business leaders and everyday voters who understand the importance of restructuring our public education system to build a stronger, brighter future for Mississippi.
We have already advocated:
1. $85 million in tax cuts for teachers and parents
2. Using graduation coaches in every middle school and high school to cut the dropout rate
3. Using three-year budget projections to better manage taxpayer dollars
4. Raising the compulsory school age to 18 to make sure our teenagers are in school and not in trouble
Tomorrow morning, I'll release full details on building a statewide public-private partnership for early childhood development, offering teachers better training in college, and adopting a comprehensive literacy plan for students, teachers and administrators.
So I hope you'll watch tonight as I discuss my plans for Mississippi. You'll get a firsthand comparison of what we propose and how it compares with our opponents.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Johnny DuPree
