Don't Forget Iraq

Over the last month, the media has devoted much of its attention to a war fought 35 years ago. In the process they've somehow forgot that American soldiers continue to fight an ongoing war in Iraq. And unfortunately, it is deadly as ever. According to many reports, across Iraq, U.S. forces are being attacked 60 times per day on average, up 20 percent from the three-month period before the hand-over. Over the last two months after the U.S. handed sovereignty back to Iraq , more than 110 U.S. troops have been killed and much of the country remains very dangerous. More troops have died in each of the months following the hand-over of sovereignty (54 in July and 63 in August) than in the month preceding the hand-over (42 in June). Since President Bush declared an end to major combat operations, 836 U.S. troops have died.
