Happy Independence Day

Statement

Even in the Oklahoma heat, it is a great day to wave the flag and say "Happy Birthday America!" As you spend time with family, cook out with friends, or watch fireworks this Independence Day, I encourage you to remember how far we have come as a nation.

Think back on the founding of our country and remember those who came before us to lay the groundwork for the unique freedoms we have today. No other nation on earth has experienced the freedom and security that we have enjoyed for so many decades. When our grand experiment with liberty was born in 1776, most of the world lived under despotism; our freedom remains, "the last best hope of earth." Even with our differences and our struggling economy, there is no other nation like the United States of America.

As we move past another birthday, join me in celebrating those who continue protecting, serving, and preserving the United States. We truly are a blessed country. May God continue to protect our families, our friends, and our great nation.
