Labrador Statement on Budget

Statement

Date: April 5, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Today Congressman Raúl R. Labrador released the following statement on the FY2012 budget.

"The budget offered by Chairman Paul Ryan and the Republican Majority in the House today is exactly the bold policy plan needed to change the way Washington has been spending money it doesn't have and stop mortgaging the future of our children and grandchildren. As I have said before, if this Congress is serious about reining in wasteful, dangerous spending there can be no sacred cows and all programs need to be on the table for review."

"For far too long, our leaders in Washington have been afraid to address the growing debt by examining and cutting discretionary spending while strengthening entitlement programs. By now, we should all recognize the unsustainable path on which our nation is currently heading. The only way for America to build the confidence in our economy that will allow employers to grow their businesses and create new jobs is to remove our country from this treacherous path. This budget proposal by House Leadership is an excellent first step in returning sanity to Washington."
