Appropriations
In an effort to increase transparency and accountability in the appropriations process, Senators Wyden and Merkley have decided to post every funding request they receive this year to their web sites. We have previously solicited input however, pursuant to Senate requirements, newsletters, petitions, opinion polls and issue alerts and other electronic communications cannot be initiated by this office for the 60-day period immediately before the date of a primary or general election.

The appropriations proposals being posted include every request received and have not been vetted or approved by the Senate offices. Wyden and Merkley decided to post every request that their offices received this year and asked for citizen input in an effort to give Oregonians a greater voice in determining federal spending priorities. The senators factored public support for appropriations projects into their decision-making.
