Graves: Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants Unacceptable

U.S. Congressman Sam Graves released the following statement regarding passage of H.R. 6497, the DREAM Act:
"Simply put, the so-called DREAM Act subsidizes education for illegal immigrants and may grant as many as two million people amnesty. I have heard overwhelmingly from Northwest Missourians that they do not want amnesty for anyone who is here illegally. They want border security and a smarter system for legal immigration. Instead, the House passed -- over my strong objections -- a piece of legislation that will encourage more illegal immigration and inevitably lead to fewer jobs for hard-working Americans. This bill is unacceptable, which is why it will not be passed by the United State Senate and will not become law."
