Congresswoman Titus is committed to helping homeowners in her district avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes. She is working everyday to help answer homeowners' questions about federal programs to make sure they are receiving the information and assistance they need. Congresswoman Titus has introduced legislation that would require every mortgage servicer who is participating in a federal program to notify all of their clients about the process to modify or refinance their loan. She is working tirelessly to make sure that the federal programs are designed to help homeowners in Nevada.

Congresswoman Titus is also committed to ensuring that Southern Nevada does not experience a future housing crisis of the magnitude we are currently facing. Congresswoman Titus supported H.R. 1728, the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act of 2009. This legislation outlaws many of the egregious industry practices that marked the subprime lending boom. Congresswoman Titus offered an amendment to this legislation requiring that lenders display all mortgage options to potential buyers in a clear, side by side format, in order to ensure that they understand which mortgage option works best for their specific financial situation.
