House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-SC) released the following statement after the Co-Chairs of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility released an initial proposal to reduce the nation's deficit.
"Reducing our current budget deficit will require serious conversations about how we can grow our economy while bringing our fiscal house in order and maintain safety nets for the vulnerable among us in a fair and equitable way. The President's fiscal commission has begun that conversation, and it behooves all of us to participate in these discussions with open minds and hearts."
