Issue Position: Responsible Community Development

Issue Position

The 33rd district includes great green spaces like the Jerome Park Reservoir and great commercial shopping along Fordham Road. We need to make sure all of our community resources are developed responsibly for the benefit of our residents.

* Ensure that every development project in my district will have a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) that sets forth the benefits that the community will receive from the development, including living wages, local hiring and training programs, affordable housing, environmental protections and funds for community programs.
* Redevelop the Kingsbridge Armory to meet the needs of my community in terms of education, recreation, services and commercial activity.
* Expand the state procurement opportunities for Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE's) in my district by increasing the amount of goods and services purchased by MBWE's and enhance penalties for contractors who willfully disregard their responsibilities.
* Make good on the Department of Environmental Protection's promise to open the 125 acres around the Jerome Park Reservoir for public access. IF IT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR CENTRAL PARK, IT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE BRONX.
