First, it was the movie trailer television ad Christine O'Donnell launched to mock and distort the work we did to keep New Castle County afloat and preserve its AAA bond rating.
Then, it was the big debate on Wednesday night, where it took my opponent a mere 20 seconds to go on the attack -- the opening salvo of a 90-minute litany of myths, misstatements and outright lies meant to build her up by tearing me down.
Then, yesterday we saw a new poll that shows that this race is close and that the number of undecided voters is large. We also learned that O'Donnell, a candidate who opposes public disclosure of campaign donations, raised a stunning $3.7 million -- $2.6 million from unlisted individual donors -- in just a few short weeks after the primary.
Take your pick -- there are plenty of reasons for us to still be worried about Christine O'Donnell.
I'm not taking anything for granted and I need you not too, either. Please make a contribution to my campaign now.
President Obama was in Wilmington on Friday because he's not taking anything for granted either. Here's what he said:
"I need you all to keep on fighting. I need all of you to knock on doors. I need all of you to talk to your neighbors. I need all of you to make phone calls. I need all of you to commit to vote for Chris Coons. Because if you are willing to step up to the plate, we won't just win this election, we're going to restore our economy and rebuild our middle class, and we will reclaim the American Dream for this generation."
On this point I could not agree with the President more.
Christine O'Donnell isn't simply a threat to this campaign. If elected, O'Donnell will immediately try to undo the progress we've made in getting our nation back on track. She'll work to undo the Wall Street reforms put in place to protect consumers and lead efforts to repeal health care reform. She'll try to strip education funding and pawn off our responsibility of taking care of our veterans.
There are 17 days left until Election Day and I'm committed to spending every one of them working hard to win. I can't do it without you. Please make a contribution to my campaign today and show that you're not taking anything for granted either.
