Chuck Grassley stands up for the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. He can often be seen at send off and welcome home ceremonies throughout Iowa for the heroes leaving their families to defend freedom.

Grassley understands the number one priority of the federal government is to keep our nation secure. Grassley is standing with 9/11 family members who oppose the closing of the military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. He recognizes that bringing those who devised the deadliest attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor to the United States be tried in a civilian court of law only serves as a platform for the enemy to spew their hateful rhetoric. Just as importantly, Grassley also knows it's wrong to give foreign terrorists more protections than U.S. service members who are facing court martial.

When terrorists attacked the homeland on September 11, 2001, life was forever changed for Americans. Etched in the minds of people around the world are not only the horrific images of that fateful day, but also a country brought together by uncommon acts of heroism and bravery that represent the heart and soul of our nation joining together to combat terrorism at home and abroad.
