Issue Position

Every Georgian deserves healthcare coverage. Georgia must take immediate and active steps to provide this coverage to its citizenry and also to promote healthy lifestyles among the population. Additionally, Georgia must work with the federal government to create programs, initiatives and provide funding to help Georgia's most destitute citizens obtain the healthcare they so desperately need. As your state representative, I will work to ensure that our children receive access to quality healthcare, our citizens are able to lead productive, healthy lives and our elderly are taken care of without the worry of going bankrupt.

Action Plan: Georgia needs more trauma care centers. The legislature recently passed legislation to help fund more trauma centers in Georgia but we must do more to provide comprehensive coverage to all Georgians. Before we do this, however, we will have to find a constant stream of revenue to mitigate or eliminate the costs associated with insuring every Georgian. There are a number of possibilities that have been presented: (1) Raising lottery fees, (2) Making gambling legal or (3) An extra tax on hospitals. Either way, as a state legislature I commit to looking at innovative and new ways to get the job done so that NO ONE in Georgia is without the healthcare services they need.
