President Obama Signed Financial Legislation into Law Today

Today, Rep. Bill Foster (IL-14) released the following statement after attending the signing ceremony for the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Rep. Foster is a member of the House Financial Services Committee, the committee of jurisdiction for this legislation, and saw many of his ideas included in the bill.

"After a financial crisis that cost our country 8 million jobs and cost families in America more than 17 trillion dollars, it was imperative that commonsense rules of the road be put in place so that this kind of catastrophe never happens again. I am honored to have been a part of the legislative process that crafted this set of reforms to Wall Street and protections for businesses, investors and consumers. This law represents a tremendous step forward for the future financial stability of our country."
