As a mother and a teacher, Stephanie understands how important education is to our future. Stephanie knows that education is the key to prosperity for our community and our state. From preschool through adulthood, a dynamic education system is key to our future.
Stephanie's experience in the public education system has shown her how the various ways government can help people stand up in life, or how inept policies will make things worse. Currently, our education system is struggling under the weight of burdensome mandates and bureaucracy.
Stephanie will use her education experience to make sure our education resources are used in the most effective manner possible. Stephanie proposes a 1-2-3 approach to beginning education reform:
1. Empower our qualified educators and schools to adapt the education curriculum to their individual schools, and students. Give them the freedom to innovate and develop strategies to meet the needs in their schools and classrooms.
2. Give our schools the resources necessary to make these innovations succeed. Reexamine the funding mechanism for schools to ensure that all our students have the resources they need to thrive and that successful schools are rewarded, not punished for succeeding.
3. Hold our schools accountable for their results. As your State Legislator, I will work to assure schools have the freedom to succeed, with accountability, to ensure our students' needs are being met.
