Dear <>,
After auto bailouts, bank bailouts, so-called stimulus bills, and bankrupt cash-for-clunkers programs, economic growth in this country continues to hover around double digits. Why should anyone believe that a second stimulus package is the answer to America's stagnant economy?
Which brings me to this week's must read:
Washington Times -- "Stimulus' or not, Obama seeks new spending
More government spending is not the way to create long-term private sector jobs. The spending solutions that Congress and the Administration continue to put forward clearly are not working. What we do need to provide is a package of incentives to strengthen small businesses and American families.
The job creation policy ideas that I presented last year still have not been considered by liberal leaders in Washington and it is high time for Congress to start bringing these proposals up for a vote. Let's start by providing a 5% across the board income tax cut. Then, we should allow small business to take a tax deduction equal to 20% of their income. Next, we will make all withdrawals from IRAs tax-and-penalty free.
These are just three simple ideas out of many that have been presented to Speaker Nancy Pelosi. It is time to send liberal leadership an SOS: Stop Over Spending and start creating jobs.
Sincerely,
Congressman Joe Wilson
Member of Congress
