During the session, Rep. Allen sponsored several bills designed to increase the safety of Arkansans. Act 1495. The Arkansas Children's Imitation Firearms Act, prohibits the sale of toys guns that look like real guns
Act 308 may protect drivers from serious injury or death by making the failure to wear seat belts a primary offense. Act 976 provides criminal liability for social host who knowingly serve alcohol to persons under the age of 21 and who knowingly allow minors to consume alcohol on their property. Act 352 stiffens the penalty for the offense of knowing giving, procuring, or furnishing alcohol to a minor. Act 772 protects consumers of motor vehicles from exposure to toxic chemicals by authorizing prosecuting attorneys to destroy or sell for scrap metal a motor vehicle in which methamphetamine was manufactured. Act 711 amends the Arkansas Earthquake Program by increasing disaster preparedness and disaster evacuation, shelters, stockpiles, and rebuilding plans.
The General Assembly also passed Act 181, which prohibits drivers form text messaging while driving.
