Issue Position: Responsive Government

Issue Position

Harrisburg has developed a culture of indifference and apathy. Little has been accomplished in addressing the needs and concerns of most working families. Reform is needed to make state government more responsive to the needs of the average worker, and less accountable to the demands of special interest groups.

As governor, Tony will fight for the immediate end to the practice of "pay-to-play" by which large campaign contributors are rewarded by lucrative state contracts. In addition, he will work to prohibit all forms of gifts and free meals from lobbyists to elected officials. He also believes it is important to fight for campaign spending limits and ethics policies that prohibit revolving-doors in which former state regulators leave public service to work for the same industries they once regulated. He is well aware that if state government is to become more responsive to working families, reforms are needed to refocus Harrisburg's priorities and restore the public's trust.
