Expanding access to high quality affordable health care
Texas has the unfortunate distinction of leading the nation in the number of uninsured residents, many of whom are our children and seniors. Health care is ultimately a national problem that requires a national solution, but we must do our part at the state level to expand access to affordable health care. That means restoring the hundreds of thousands of kids cut off from the state's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
There are thousands of families that don't have health insurance because they cannot afford it. There is no excuse for not providing that at a minimum ALL children have access to high quality health insurance. I believe that all Texans have a right to take their children to a doctor when they get sick and not go bankrupt in the process. As State Representative I will support legislation that will restore the funding necessary to sustain CHIP.
I will also support the much needed stem cell research in order to proactively fight the diseases that plague our community.
