As technology has flourished, consumer fraud has become a disturbing commonality in our society. Lawmakers must react swiftly as new schemes are developed daily to defraud unsuspecting citizens.
Senator Raoul has successfully passed several important bills to protect victims of consumer fraud, including granting new protections for victims of identity theft, and creating specific provisions for the immediate notification of consumers of any breaches in the security system of data collectors that could possibly lead to the leak of consumers' personal information. He has also successfully passed legislation that will more stringently regulate payday lenders.
