Our dropout rate is at an unacceptable level, yet over half of North Carolina's budget is spent on education. We must look for alternatives, such as trade schools. Trade schools will encourage students who have no desire to earn a 4 year degree, to go to our community colleges and earn a skill that will afford them the opportunity to compete. These students will then be able to earn a fair wage so that they can raise a family.
Charter schools provide competition to our public education system to be more accountable. I believe it is time to lift the cap on charter schools.
Good teachers should be rewarded with higher pay and bad teachers should be removed from the classroom.
