Van Hollen Statement On Auto Dealer Arbitration Progress

Today Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) issued the following statement on auto dealer arbitration progress:

"Last year Chrysler and General Motors, after receiving billions of dollars of taxpayer support to save the American auto industry, unfairly terminated more than 2,000 automobile dealers, many of which were successful and profitable small businesses. I was proud to join with others in Congress to establish a process for these dealers to seek reinstatement through binding arbitration. More than half of the affected dealers have decided to appeal their terminations and take their cases to arbitration. I am very pleased that these small business men and women will now have a fair shot at getting back into business and putting their employees back to work."
