Congresswoman Laura Richardson's Statement on President Obama's Announcement of a New Cybersecurity Coordinator in the White House

Congresswoman Laura Richardson today made the following statement after the announcement from President Obama today that he will be creating a new White House office led by a Cybersecurity Coordinator to oversee all federal cybersecurity policies.

"In a world where we count on computers for everything from paying our monthly bills online to controlling our air traffic, it is critically important to develop a new comprehensive approach to securing our country's digital infrastructure. As a member of the Homeland Security Committee,and as the representative of a district that is home to many high-tech companies, I especially applaud the president for recognizing the vital importance ofsuch an approach and I look forward to joining my colleagues in working with the new Cybersecurity Coordinator."

Congresswoman Richardson is a Democrat from California's 37th Congressional District. Her district includes the city of Long Beach, Compton, Carson, Watts, Willowbrooke and Signal Hill. She is a member of the House Committees on Transportation & Infrastructure and Homeland Security.
