One on one with Sam Rasoul

WSLS10 Anchor

WARREN: "Let's start off talking a little word association here. When I say Southwest Virginia, what do you think of?"

RASOUL: "I think of the mountains."

WARREN: "When I say Iraq what do you think of?"

RASOUL: "I think of 4000 soldiers plus, dead."

WARREN: "What about "John McCain?"

RASOUL: "I think he's a hero."

WARREN: "Barack Obama?"

RASOUL: "A fresh alternative."

WARREN: "Bob Goodlatte?"

RASOUL: "My congressman."

WARREN: "The best trait of your opponent?"

RASOUL: "The best trait of my opponent is that he's a likeable guy and has a very likeable wife."

WARREN: "Worst trait?"

RASOUL: "You'll have to ask somebody else."

WARREN: "You're running against him--you decided to run against him."

RASOUL: "I did. But I'm running for a position, and not against him."

WARREN: "One word. I say George Bush, you say?"

RASOUL: I would say "incompetent."

WARREN: "They are, right now at least, in consideration of impeaching him, at least in the House of Representatives. What do you think about that?"

RASOUL: "I think that I was firmly against impeachment for a while, until it got out of control. And then I thought it would be difficult to not be pushing for some type of reprimand with the abuses of the constitution that we've seen."

WARREN: "Should he be impeached?"

RASOUL: "I think so."

WARREN: "Biggest problem facing America right now?"

RASOUL: "We are on the verge of what's called "national socialism" where really the will of a few in these lobbies and special interests is being imposed upon middle-class America."

WARREN: "What's the biggest threat?"

RASOUL: "That is the biggest threat in my opinion. That is the biggest threat because we cannot come up with any real solutions to the problems facing America, until we rid the system of the influence of these lobbies and special interests."

WARREN: "A bigger threat than Iran, terrorism, Osama Bin Laden?"

RASOUL: "Oh, by far in way, because we cannot figure out a way to objectively deal with those until we can look through a clear lens."

WARREN: "Tech or UVa?"

RASOUL: Tech.

WARREN: "Tech all the way?"

RASOUL: "Tech all the way."
