Issue Position: Property Tax Reform
When Marion County's property tax crisis erupted last summer, David understood the anger and pain of fellow taxpayers and became the first elected official to propose a solution to cut property taxes to affordable and fair levels.
He attended rallies, held forums, and studied reforms in other states. After listening to the public, David drafted a comprehensive overhaul that will finally fix our broken property tax system.
David's proposal lowers property taxes for homeowners and renters by 62%. Government spending will be cut, and greater equity among different taxpayers will result.
David's proposal has become a leading option for Indiana and the only plan offered by a Democrat. Few other elected officials offered a solution, afraid of the controversy, but David studied the issue and was willing to take a stand for taxpayers.
