Iraq and Foreign Policy
The war in Iraq must end. Bush's war has cost us more than 460 billion dollars, thousands of our brave servicemen and women have been injured or killed, and we are less safe today as a nation as a result of this action.
The only winners are friends of Bush, Cheney, and the GOP: Haliburton, Blackwater, and other war profiteers who have been getting rich on no-bid contracts paid for by you and me. We need to start bringing our men and women in uniform home - now. We need a diplomatic strategy that engages our allies and the international community so that Iraq does not descend further into chaos. But we cannot shoulder this burden alone, particularly when it is coming at the expense of our efforts to combat terrorism - as is the case now.
It is also our duty to welcome home those who have served our country honorably by ensuring they receive the highest quality medical treatment, which starts with restoring funding for VA hospitals cut by the Bush Administration. We owe our Veterans the respect and support they are due for their many sacrifices.
