Capito Statement on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) today released the following statement after a House vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act:

"I strongly support efforts to prevent discrimination in the work place, but unfortunately this bill overreaches and must be clarified.

"The vague language in this legislation prohibits ‘perceived' discrimination based on sexual orientation. It also fails to provide adequate hiring protections and freedom of religion for religious schools and organizations in accordance with traditional federal guidelines."
