Senator Chuck Grassley tonight released the following statement after Judge Michael Mukasey was confirmed by the Senate to be the next Attorney General of the United States. Grassley is a senior member of the Judiciary Committee.
"Judge Mukasey is a man of the law who appears to be fiercely independent, which is a key quality we want in the individual in charge of the Justice Department. His challenge is to effectively lead the Justice Department and uphold the law and Constitution."
