CORNYN OFFERS CLOSING PRAYER AT NATIONAL PRAYER BREAKFAST
WASHINGTON-U.S. Sen. John Cornyn had the distinct honor of offering the closing prayer at the 50th annual National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday morning in Washington, DC. President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush attended, as well as members of the administration, lawmakers, religious leaders, and special guests including the New York City firefighter Joe Finley. The event is an opportunity for our nation's leaders to come together each year and spend time in reflection and prayer. President Bush thanked Sen. Cornyn for his prayer and the attendees. He also recognized that the nation's prayers are what have kept the country strong after the terrorist's attacks of September 11th. Below is the text of Sen. Cornyn's closing prayer at the National Prayer Breakfast-
Heavenly Father, creator and preserver of us all, we give thanks for all Your wondrous works, Your gifts seen and unseen. We pray that Your hand would be on our nation, that You would sustain us through all endeavors, in spite of all troubles. We pray for unity in compassion, comfort for those who mourn, aid for those who are sick, and justice for those who do evil. Lead us, O Lord, in Your way - and let our hearts seek after Your truth, until that day when all stand reconciled before You, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
