Capito Praises SCHIP Compromise

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito issued the following statement after voting on a revised bill to reauthorize the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP):

"This bill is a bipartisan win for children in West Virginia and I was happy to support it with my vote today. Note only does it reauthorize SCHIP before the September 30 expiration date, but it does so without cutting into Medicare Advantage."

"This legislation also re-focuses SCHIP on its original intent - to support low-income children - by placing a first priority on those who need help the most."

"I've been a strong supporter of SCHIP since I first pushed for its implementation in the West Virginia state legislature and I'm glad to see that this bill has garnered support from both sides of the aisle. Healthcare for children is something we all can - and should - support."
