Statement By Rep. Johnson on the Gonzales Resignation

I am pleased that Mr. Gonzales has finally come to the realization that he could not properly serve this nation when so many doubted his veracity.

As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, I was given the chance to directly question him and never found him to be forthcoming.

It is now time to rebuild the Department of Justice to ensure it once again serves the purpose of independently protecting the rights and civil liberties of the American people.
