Dear Friend,

As the Primary Election draws near, Sandy and I find ourselves reflecting on the race for Congress thus far. I have met so many wonderful people in the towns and neighborhoods that make up Florida's 13th Congressional District. The people of District 13 have expressed their desire to have a representative who will listen to their ideas and represent their beliefs. And as your Congressman, I have given you my promise to do just that!

Over a year ago, I decided to run for Congress based on the principle of creating a better America for my children and for generations to come. I have been privileged to live the American dream and was taught, "To whom much is given, much is required."

This campaign journey has been an awakening to both Sandy and me. It has helped me to think about solutions to real problems and I have turned to you for help. The friends I have made and the partnerships I have forged truly motivates me to serve you the best way that I know how.

As I reflect back, I realize we have come so far together. With your help, our campaign has reached over 40,000 homes through a tremendous grassroots effort and we continue to communicate our conservative message to voters each day. We must secure our border and crack down on illegal immigration. We must get spending under control, pass a balanced budget amendment and a constitutional line-item veto. And we must always work to preserve Social Security and Medicare, and protect our veterans, soldiers and first responders.

The support that Sandy and I have received has been a blessing. I truly believe the reason we're winning is that we're talking about issues that are important to the future of the 13th District and the nation. However, there still is work to be done as the Primary draws near on September 5, 2006.

There is a lot at stake in this Congressional race. Democracy is an incredible freedom, it's important that we vote to make sure the will of the people is heard. I need your continued help as we move forward to deliver a conservative message based on the Republican principles of Ronald Reagan.

Sandy and I want to give you our heart-felt thanks for bringing us this far. Our campaign maintains a double-digit lead over our Republican opponents and our front-runner status has been recently recognized by noted national political analyst Larry Sabato, University of Virginia, and by the Washington-based Evans-Novak political report.

Whether you vote early or on September 5, remember to vote, and vote Vern Buchanan for Congress.
