U.S. Representative Diana DeGette Statement On Hewlett-Packard Indictments
U.S. Representative Diana DeGette (D-CO) responded to the indictments of five people in California over the Hewlett-Packard spying case.
"One of the goals of having Hewlett-Packard officials testify before the Committee last week was to shed light on these types of sleazy practices. Those hearings should serve as a warning to other corporations that this type of misbehavior will not be tolerated and these indictments will reinforce that message," said Rep. DeGette.
Indictments were issued for:
· Patricia C. Dunn, former chairwoman of Hewlett-Packard,
· Kevin T. Hunsaker, former senior council at Hewlett-Packard,
· Ronald L. DeLia, Security Outsourcing Solutions,
· Joseph DePante, Action Research Group,
· Bryan Wagner of Colorado.
These indictments stem from Hewlett-Packard's spying operations that tried to trace leaks from the company's Board to the news media.
"Last week, I was struck by Patricia Dunn's lack of culpability in her admission that she had authorized these operations. She refused to take personal responsibility for her actions before the U.S. House and now it appears she might be forced to take responsibility for them before the courts," said DeGette.
