Dear Friends:
Along with the rest of America, last Friday, I learned that Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) had been sending predatory emails to underage House Pages. Since this appalling admission, it has become apparent that members of the House Republican Leadership were aware of this activity for several months and possibly years, yet failed to inform authorities or the Democratic member of the bipartisan board which oversees the Page Program. This failure by Republican leaders is proof enough to me that they were participating in a cover-up of Rep. Foley's activity. The protection of pages is the responsibility of the Speaker of the House and every Member of Congress. Sadly, Congress failed to ensure that our House Pages were safe. Congress must now regain the trust of the American people by holding every person who knew of Rep. Foley's illicit activities accountable. Visit my website to read my full statement about the Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) matter.
Please join me on Wednesday, October 11th, at 7:00 p.m. at Roseville Area High School for a discussion about important issues facing K-12 education, including the upcoming Congressional reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act. This meeting in Roseville is the third in a series of education discussions I am convening for 4th District residents.
This meeting is open to everyone, especially parents and educators. I hope to see you on Wednesday!
